Sourcing Thoughtfully

A look at some of our favorite designers, manufacturers, and artists for sustainable interiors

Loloi | rugs + textiles

Wandering around the High Point Market this year it was clear to me that there is no shortage of beautiful rugs available to the trade; a distinct difference from shopping the average retail brick and mortar or big-box stores. Please, let us help if you’re currently on the hunt. And although there are many options today I would like to focus on Loloi rugs.

Loloi values talent and collaborates with top designers like Amber Lewis, Chris Loves Julia, & Rifle Paper Company. They have a broad price range to fit any budget and are committed to the craftsman in India hand crafting these amazing textiles. Seeing these rugs in person at market truly was a treat for the senses.

In India, our rugs are still crafted the old-world way. Every step of the process—whether it be the dipdyeing of wool or the intricate task of weaving—is done by hand, where proud artisans keep this time-honored tradition alive.

Ethnicraft | Sustainable Furniture

The furniture goods made by the sustainably committed company Ethnicraft stand out in design and lasting quality. They specialize in classic modern styles that fit well into many types of interiors. They not only have very clever extendable dining tables but also an array of furniture offerings including sofas. The white oak and blackened oak wood pieces are my personal favorite but they offer many more finishes to suit your space.

We create beautiful furniture and decorative objects
that are the foundations for your home, to inspire the stories of your life.

Blue Ocean Traders | Unique Vintage & Antique Wares

It’s no secret the second hand and reclaimed markets are one of the most sustainable ways to shop. Here in North Carolina designers are lucky to be so close to one of the Blue Ocean shipping hubs. The company specializes in unique vintage and antique finds from worldwide sources , including Asia, India, Europe, Egypt, and here in the United States. They offer a magical collection of primitive and refined goods that will lead everyone to ask, where did you get that? I personally have added many of their specialties to my home. Their inventory includes furniture, decor, garden, and architectural salvage.

The Urban Electric Co. | Lighting

Lighting and hardware is one of the most important details in a home interior space. When looking for classic lighting fixtures that will stand the test of time consider the Charleston, SC based The Urban Electric Co. Offering a bench-made, hand crafted line of high end lighting that is beautiful in design and craftsmanship. This is not a huge factory of stamped out items but a thoughtfully run business of well trained and well treated employees.

We pride ourselves on manufacturing processes that secure the growth and sustainability of artisanal craft for the future by using modern techniques that enhance and refine the hand-build approach as opposed to replacing it.

Our Local Artists | Fine Art & Decor

As a design firm and gallery we aim to support and highlight the local artists at our galleries here in Boone and Blowing Rock. Using one-of-a-kind, original artwork in a home creates such a personal and tactile space that also supports your local community. There is an ever-changing inventory of artwork and exhibits from a select and talented group. The best way to see the collection is in person but feel free to reach out for commission work or call and let us know what you’re looking for. View Common Good available works here.

These are just a few sources that we admire, there are so many more. We hope to help you build a more thoughtfully layered home. Don’t hesitate to inquire about any items mentioned here. Sourcing can be a time consuming process and we are here to help.

And yes, we haven’t even gotten into fabrics, wallpaper, tile, or hardwoods here but don’t worry…. more to follow…..
