Before & After | Vintage Vacation Chalet
Turning an Amazing Time Capsule of the Late 1960’s into a Cozy Family Retreat
Using the existing layout we were able to update the finishes for this adorable family.
I hate to play favorites but The Hound Ears Community would have to be mine here in the High Country. It just has that sweet vintage mountain community vibe. The entrance is nestled in the valley surrounded by beautiful rivers and forests and in a great central location. My true love for the area comes from the top of the neighborhood where I spent countless years climbing on the boulders with my dearest friends at the outdoor Bouldering Competition. Having contributed multiple paintings and furniture projects on a few homes here, we were excited to get the call about a small vacation cabin remodel.
We were able to keep some of the original character with the Stone Fireplace.
Here’s a list of some of our biggest changes to the A-Frame Style Cabin
Replaced The Dated Wall Paneling as well as the Trims & Casings around the Doors and Windows
Defined and Heightened Fireplace with Rich Textured Tile from Fireclay
Replaced the Popcorn Ceilings with a Warm Knotty Pine
Added additional Lighting included Wall Sconces and Pendant Lights
Replace Flooring with Real Hardwood Oak Flooring from Abbey Flooring in Boone.
Replaced Doors with Solid Core Double Panel Slabs from New River Building Supply
Reworked the Staircase and Created a Storage Nook Underneath
Moved the Television away from the Fireplace and mounted it on the wall beside the stairs.
All new Kitchen Cabinets, Countertops, and Open Shelving with a Clean Modern Backsplash up to the Ceiling
Mixed Metals with Brass Lighting and Black Hardware
Other Sourcing Includes Handmade Print by The White Crowe; Kitchen Tile from The Stone Cavern; Lighting from West Elm & Etsy
I hope you’ve enjoyed this charming remodel. Thanks to the whole team for all of the efforts it takes to accomplish these projects.
